Every family has one.
The dad who would rather be anywhere else.
The teenager who suddenly forgets how to smile.
The little one who has absolutely no intention of standing still.
And Mom? She’s just hoping for one beautiful photograph where everyone is looking in the same direction.

After more than 30 years behind the camera, I've learned something important: you don't need to know how to pose, your kids don't need to behave perfectly, and Dad definitely doesn't need to practice his smile.
That's my job.
Family Photos Shouldn't Feel Like Work
One of the biggest misconceptions about professional family photography is that everyone needs to arrive perfectly dressed, perfectly behaved and ready to pose.
That's not real family life.
I would much rather photograph your family being themselves.
I'll guide you when you need direction. I'll tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands and where to look. But then we'll move.
We'll walk. We'll talk. We'll get the kids laughing. I'll photograph the little interactions that happen between the posed photographs.
Those are often the images families end up loving most.
You don't need to walk into your session knowing what to do.
Just bring your family. I'll take care of the rest.
But My Husband Hates Family Photos…
I hear this one all the time.
"My husband hates having his picture taken."
That's okay.
He doesn't have to love it.
Give me 20 minutes.
I'm not going to spend half the afternoon asking Dad to tilt his head two degrees to the left while everyone gets increasingly frustrated.
We get what we need, keep things moving and have some fun along the way.
I've photographed hundreds of families, weddings, children, executives, athletes and people who swore they were "terrible in pictures."
Very few people are actually terrible in photographs.
Usually, they're just uncomfortable.
A big part of being an experienced photographer is recognizing that and knowing how to make people forget about the camera.
And yes, sometimes Dad even admits afterward that it wasn't that bad.
For me, that's a win.
Why Fall Is One of My Favorite Times for Family Portraits
Connecticut gives us an incredible backdrop every fall.
The changing leaves, softer light, warm colors and cooler temperatures create a setting that's difficult to reproduce any other time of year.
That's why I'm bringing my 2026 Fall Mini Sessions to the Connecticut Audubon Society in Fairfield.
These sessions are intentionally short, relaxed and efficient.
You don't need to give up your entire Saturday.
You don't need to convince your family to participate in a two-hour photo shoot.
You arrive, we have some fun, I create a variety of photographs, and before anyone has time to start asking, "Are we done yet?" — we're pretty much done.
That's the beauty of a well-planned mini session.
Fairfield County Families Are All Welcome
My studio is based in Fairfield, but I photograph families from throughout Fairfield County and surrounding Connecticut communities.
I've worked with families from Fairfield, Westport, Greenwich, Easton, Trumbull, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Weston, Stratford and many of the surrounding towns.
And every family is different.
Some arrive with toddlers.
Some bring teenagers.
Some bring grandparents and turn the session into a multi-generational portrait.
Some haven't had a professional family photograph taken in ten years.
That's completely fine.
Your family doesn't have to look like the family in someone else's photographs.
I want your photographs to look like you.
What Happens During Your Fall Mini Session?
First, don't worry about posing.
I'll guide you.
We'll start with the photographs everyone wants—the beautiful family portrait where everyone looks their best.
Then we'll loosen things up.
Maybe I'll have you walk together.
Maybe the kids get to squeeze Mom and Dad.
Maybe someone says something that makes everyone laugh.
I'm always watching for those moments in between.
Because twenty years from now, you may love the perfectly posed family portrait.
But you might love the photograph of your child laughing against your shoulder even more.
That's why I try to give you both.
What Should We Wear?
This is another question I hear constantly.
My biggest recommendation is simple:
Coordinate. Don't match.
You don't need everyone wearing identical white shirts and blue jeans.
Think about colors that work together—warm neutrals, earth tones, creams, browns, muted greens, burgundy, navy and other colors that complement Connecticut's fall landscape.
Most importantly, wear something that feels like you.
If you're uncomfortable in your clothes, you'll probably feel uncomfortable in your photographs.
And if you're unsure, ask me.

Don't Wait Until the Kids Are Older
This is the part I think matters most.
There will always be a reason to postpone family photographs.
Someone wants to lose ten pounds.
A child has braces.
Dad doesn't want to do it.
The kids are too young.
Everyone is busy.
Maybe next year.
But kids don't wait.
Families change.
And eventually you realize that the photograph you kept postponing is the photograph you wish you had.
Professional family photography isn't really about having something new to post on Instagram.
It's about keeping a little piece of your family exactly as it is right now.
The missing teeth.
The awkward teenage smile.
The way your daughter grabs Dad's hand.
The way your son still leans against Mom.
Even the dad who insists he doesn't want to be there.
